James Crewse is a litigation attorney specializing in high-stakes business disputes. He has litigated numerous complex business and employment disputes, including contract and partnership disputes, enforcement and defense of covenants not to compete and non-solicitation agreements, and claims alleging employment discrimination, business torts, misappropriation of trade secrets, unpaid accounts. Mr. Crewse has represented a wide variety of clients, including financial institutions and investment banks, manufacturers and suppliers, transportation and
e-commerce companies, general and sub-contractors, partners and partnerships, investment companies and investors, and growing companies.

James Crewse also serves as local counsel to law firms in federal court cases pending in the Northern District of Texas and Texas state court cases, and has also pursued, as both lead and local counsel, pre and post-judgment relief through discovery and writs, especially including writs of garnishment.

Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Crewse was a judicial clerk, serving as a briefing attorney for Justice John Sharp Anderson of the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas. While completing his law degree, Mr. Crewse separately served as a judicial intern at the Fourteenth Court of Appeals for Justice Richard Edelman and former Texas Supreme Court Justice Scott Brister.

bullet Successfully obtained a pre-trial dismissal of Equal Pay Act and gender discrimination claims against corporate client and obtained a take-nothing jury verdict on the plaintiff’s retaliation claim, which sought actual and exemplary damages;
bullet Obtained a take-nothing verdict for a Fortune 500 client in an adversary proceeding in federal court;
bullet Obtained a favorable federal court verdict on behalf of investors against a corporation and its executive for violations of among others, the Securities Exchange Act, Rule 10b-5, and the Texas Securities Act;
bullet Obtained a favorable federal court judgment against several foreign defendants in a breach of contract action and garnished the entire amount of the favorable judgment and overcame the judgment debtors’ motion to dissolve;
bullet Obtained a favorable state court verdict for corporate client on breach of contract claim;
bullet Representation of manufacturers and distributors in numerous breach of contract and unpaid account cases;
bullet Representation of a financial institution involving the interpretation of the legal significance of certain language in the account agreement;
bullet Representation of financial institutions in actions alleging unfair business practices and violations of federal and state statutes relating to consumer credit accounts;
bullet Obtained a favorable settlement on behalf of a real estate developer involving a boundary dispute and damages resulting from an alleged trespass;
bullet Assisted in obtaining a state court judgment on behalf of a commercial landlord for breach of lease, foreclosing on the judgment debtor’s property, and coordinating a sheriff’s sale of the foreclosed property; and
bullet Participated in the City of Plano Loaner Attorney Program (tried approximately 70 cases on behalf of the City of Plano, Texas - 2006).
