John T. Palter
John T. Palter has more than 20 years of experience advocating the interests of individual, emerging growth and institutional clients in complex commercial, employment and intellectual property disputes. Mr. Palter has served as lead and local counsel in numerous jury and bench trials and arbitrations in cases involving securities, accounting, intellectual property, copyright and trade mark infringement, trade secrets, non-compete agreements, employment, insurance coverage, oil and gas, dissenter's rights, deceptive trade practices, quasi-torts, and pre- and post-judgment collections. Mr. Palter has also used alternative disputes resolution methods, as appropriate, to successfully resolve numerous commercial disputes prior to formal litigation or trial.
Mr. Palter has served as lead counsel in jury trials and arbitrations involving complex GAAP accounting, accounting negligence and securities matters. His experience includes representing employers in employment deflection, non-compete and trade secret cases, having successfully secured more than 100 emergency orders of injunctive relief in State and Federal Courts.
Mr. Palter has represented clients in multi-district and multi venue litigation before State and Federal Courts, National Association of Security Dealers, and American Arbitration Association throughout the country.
He was licensed to the State Bar of Texas in 1985 and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts in the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. In 1989 he secured a license as a Certified Public Accountant by the Texas Board of Public Accountancy. He is admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service, Tax Court.
Mr. Palter earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Northern Illinois University in 1982 and his law degree in 1985 from Drake University, where he was Order of the Barristers.
